This quilt is one side of a Retirement Quilt I made for my friend Cheryl.  She has been an RN for 44 years, several of those years in the Air Force and Air Force Reserve.  She was also a Hospice RN for 32 years.   In her free time, she loves traveling to National Parks.  You will see 12 of your stamps on this quilt.  Without telling her what I was doing, I asked her to name all the National Parks she had been to.  She named 11.  Hmmm.  I guess I could have put 5 stamps at the top and 6 at the bottom . . . but I would prefer to have 6 both the top and bottom.  While I was pondering what to do and how to adjust my graph paper design, I looked across the room and saw a postcard in a frame.  It had been there for a number of years . . . the kind of thing that you get so used to seeing that you don’t think about it.  I got up, walked over to it . . . and saw that it was a postcard from Mount Rushmore.  Hmm, I thought.  I don’t remember buying that particular postcard when I went to Mount Rushmore.  I opened the frame and looked at the card.  Cheryl had sent it to me 9 years ago.  Mount Rushmore had not been on her list of 11 National Parks, so I now had an even dozen.  I immediately ordered the 12 stamps!
